2. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing our website or engaging our legal services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.
Our services are intended for persons aged 18 years and above. By engaging our services, you confirm that you are of legal age and have the capacity to enter into a legally binding agreement under Malaysian law.
Formal engagement of our legal services is confirmed through a written engagement letter, which will set out the specific scope of work, fees, and terms applicable to your matter.
3. Description of Services
Restu Law provides family legal services in Malaysia, principally from our office in Johor Bahru, Johor. Our services include:
- Divorce and separation counsel — guidance, documentation, and representation
- Custody and maintenance support — arrangement drafting, court applications, child welfare advice
- Family mediation — neutral facilitation of disputes to reach agreed outcomes
Service delivery is subject to the specific scope agreed in your engagement letter. We do not guarantee particular outcomes in legal matters, as results depend on facts, circumstances, and court decisions that are beyond our control.
4. Your Responsibilities
When using our website or engaging our services, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information when requested
- Inform us promptly of any changes to relevant facts or circumstances
- Treat our solicitors and staff with respect
- Not use our website for any unlawful or improper purpose
- Not attempt to copy, distribute, or reproduce content from our website without permission
5. Fees and Payment
Our fees are disclosed in writing before any chargeable work begins. Starting rates for our services are published on our website in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and are subject to review.
Any additional work beyond the agreed scope will be discussed with you and confirmed in writing before it is undertaken. Payment terms are set out in your engagement letter. We accept payment by bank transfer and cash at our office.
Consultation fees, if applicable, are payable at the time of the appointment. Disbursements — such as court filing fees — are billed separately and at cost.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on our website — including text, layout, design, and images — is the property of Restu Law unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use our website content for commercial purposes without our written permission. Legal documents prepared for your matter are produced for your use in that matter and may not be resold or distributed.
7. Disclaimers
Information on this website is provided for general reference only and does not constitute legal advice. You should not act on website content without obtaining specific legal advice from a qualified solicitor in relation to your own situation.
While we take care to keep website information current, we do not warrant that it is always accurate, complete, or up to date. We accept no liability for decisions made based solely on website content.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, Restu Law's liability arising from the provision of legal services is limited to the fees paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Termination
Either party may terminate a service engagement by giving reasonable written notice. The specific notice requirements and consequences of termination are set out in the engagement letter.
We reserve the right to cease acting in any matter where a conflict of interest arises, where instructions cannot be followed in good conscience, or where fees remain unpaid beyond agreed terms. In such cases, we will take reasonable steps to avoid prejudice to your position.
10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from these Terms or our services shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia, with Johor Bahru as the preferred venue.
Before commencing formal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us at [email protected] to attempt an informal resolution.
11. General Provisions
Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with your engagement letter, constitute the entire agreement between you and Restu Law regarding our services.
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, it shall be severed and the remaining terms shall remain in force.
Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
Changes: We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our services following notification of changes constitutes acceptance.
